Dan Wheldon was an extraordinary talent and it is ironic that he met his death on the last day of the 2011 season. He was not contesting the championship; the drivers who were, were Dario Franchitti and Will Power. Wheldon was racing for an entirely different challenge, and a controversial one. His challenge was to start the race from behind the rest of the grid and during the course of the race overtake all of the other cars; all 34 of them. If he had been successful he was would have collected $5 million prize money.

He was up for the challenge; his tweets expressed his intensity and determination to achieve it. It was not to be. The race was only 12 laps old before one of the most dreadful accidents in motorsport happened. 15 racing cars were involved in a pile up and Wheldon’s car flew through the air then exploded.

Motorsport is dangerous, but Indy Car racing is its most dangerous formula. Cars hurtle round a tight and steeply banked oval at speeds of up to 230 mph and there is simply nowhere to go should anything go wrong. Sadly it was an accident waiting to happen and one that will certainly change the nature of the sport.

Like just about all successful racing drivers, Wheldon started his sport when just a young child. He began driving Karts when he was just four years old and he competed in Karting against Jenson Button, often beating him. He had hoped to become an F1 driver, but he did not have the necessary finance so he crossed the pond to race in America. He was incredibly successful there and won the Indianapolis 500 on two occasions, including this year.

There have been large numbers of tributes from many who are or have been involved in the sport. Lewis Hamilton described him as an ‘inspiration’. And www.motors.co.uk would like to add their name to the many that have paid tribute to him.

The coming weekend will see the first ever Indian Grand Prix. The newly built Buddh International Circuit represents a flight into the unknown for Formula 1 fans and drivers alike. Each track has special qualities and this New Delhi track will be no different. The track will open up the sport to a whole new demographic of fans in a sport which could well take off in Central Asia.

Narain Karthikeyan was the first Indian F1 driver and will feature for the HRT team. Karun Chandhok will also be hoping to get the nod from Lotus. It would enhance the occasion if there was some national interest for Indian F1 fans.

Sebastian Vettel will be looking to stretch his lead at the top of the championship. Vettel achieved sporting greatness in winning this years title – he became F1’s youngest competitor to win the championship twice. 30,000 fans turned out in Hoppenheim for Vettel’s homecoming. Button, Alonso, Webber and Hamilton are jostling for position below him.

Vettel has taken the glory that many thought might come to Lewis Hamilton. Hamilton has been dogged by unfortunate collisions in what has been a fairly miserable season. His father claims he has found his focus again and will return with new found vigour next season.

2012 promises to be an exciting F1 campaign if this is the case. The prospect of seeing Hamilton take on Vettel in top form is a prospect to relish. Hamilton and Vettel are two of the most talented young drivers F1 has ever seen and they can breathe life into the sport through a fierce competitive rivalry.

Any great driver needs a rival to push him to new heights – Hamilton and Vettel could emulate the Senna/Prost rivalry. The driver’s battle in the early stages of the Korean Grand prix could be an exciting taste of things to come. Hamilton knocked the Red Bull team off pole for the first time this season in Korea.

Before we spell out the top 3 wax brands for polishing your car we think that it is important that we draw your attention to some of the subtleties of the waxing and polishing process and particularly to emphasise the need to thoroughly clean your car before embarking on either. This is to remove any dust that could unsightly scratching of the paintwork. It is important that you use a proprietary car was rather than a household cleaner, as the latter can damage any existing wax layer on your paintwork.

Although polishing and waxing your car is important in terms of improving its shine, it is even more important in that it protects the car’s surface against damage caused by the environment. Car waxes and polishes are quite complicated formulations and usually they include gentle abrasives, chemical cleaners, lubricants and finally various organic waxes. The abrasives and chemical cleaners strip away the ingrained dirt and remove a tiny amount of the top surface of the paintwork whist producing an intensive shine whilst the wax adds an extra protective waterproof layer to the motors paintwork. You can find further tips and information on Motors site.

The top wax brands are:

o	Turtlewax: This company has been in the business of developing and manufacturing car cleaning and waxing products for over 50 years and it has a large number of professional and consumer car cleaning products that are suitable for all kinds of car finishes.

o	Simoniz: This has always been a leading brand of car waxes. The company was a spin off from Union Carbide and has been around since 1935. So synonymous is the brand name with its car wax products that the word “simonising” became a euphemism for car waxing just as the brand “Hoover” became synonymous with vacuum cleaning.

o	Comma: This car wax brand was voted number one by Autoexpress. The company has been producing liquid products for motors in the UK since 1965 initially supplying oils before moving on to car cleaners and waxes. Many consider the finish that is produced by Comma car waxes to be the best available, though a little more elbow grease is said to be needed than with the other brands we have mentioned.

OK, tyres don’t really go rusty, but we got you thinking didn’t we? It is wheels that get rusty, tyres just go flat. Sometimes tyres just go flat because of rusty wheels, or certainly because of corroded alloy ones.

If you find that one or more of the tyres on your allow wheels is continually deflating, then a very likely cause is that it is failing to correctly seal against the rim. If often happens that when we have a new tyre all is OK, but after just a few months we find that the tyre starts to lose pressure.

Some people find that a tyre sealant helps, but that is only a short term solution. The only way to fix the problems properly so that it won’t recur in the short term is to have the tyre removed and the rim cleaned. If it is badly pitted by corrosion then a wire brush can be used to remove the worst of it. Also ensure that the tyre rim is clean and use bead sealer on the wheel before inflating the tyre.

If you have steel wheels and you are suffering rust problems, then there is a fairly simple solution. Take off the wheel covers, carefully go over your wheels with a wire brush (if they are very rusty, then use a wire brush attached to an electric drill), carefully wash all the dust away and ensure that they are thoroughly dries, and spray then with black tyre paint. You will generally need several thing coats. Finally replace your wheel covers and admire your handiwork.

If the rust is not too bad, then you might be able to get away with a proprietary rust remover. These contain phosphoric acid (indecently, so does Coca Cola). Rust is really iron oxide, and the phosphoric acid reacts with this to form ferric phosphate. As the ferric phosphate is black and the rust is brown, you can see the reaction taking place. You can either leave the ferric phosphate in place where is will help protect against further rusting or it can be scrubbed off the reveal the underlying steel. Whichever you do, you will need to repaint your wheel with a spray paint.

In the past most car owners looking for cover through www.endsleigh.co.uk would have bought their vehicles from a local trader. For a long time it has been convention to buy a new or used car at a dealership. The obvious pitfall being that the customer is limited to a narrow selection of cars from a few locally based garages. Buying a car online has revolutionised the car market due to the fact that the buyer can view a wider variety of cars without the pressurised sales environment or excessive travel costs. To illustrate the growth of the online used car trade, a UK car is sold on E-bay every four minutes.

There is an array of reliable sites ready to facilitate your search for an online purchase. Ebaymotors.com, autotrader.com, cars.com, yahoo.com, carbuyer.com, are often listed in the top five sites to buy cars online. They offer features such as auctioned sales, reviews, multiple search terms, and emailed vehicle matching for even the most exacting criteria. You can obviously search by make, model, year, and mileage but where the real advantage transpires is through criteria such as distance from your home, owner against dealer comparison, and extensive price ranges on a single make of car. If you are unsure of the credibility of a certain website you can easily find reviews online.

When buying you car online you should make the most of all the resources that the net offers. There are a host of reliable Pricing Guides and consumer websites to assist you. They will pinpoint common mechanical flaws that persist in some vehicles, and they can help to inspire your choice by illustrating the full scope of cars available.

Just as buying a car online has transformed the car market, buying insurance online is just as easy and competitive. Endsleigh offers an insurance service that searches a wide range of UK providers in order to find you your best deal. This is why it is hard to dispute that buying online will often be the cheapest option when it comes to motoring.

Everyone has heard of such common technical car terms as ‘suspension’, ‘rear wheel drive’ and ‘carburettor ‘, but not everyone knows what exactly these terms actually mean. These are just a few of the commonly used car terminologies along with brief descriptions of their meanings.

Suspension

This refers to the collection of springs within the car, such as the torsion bars and shock absorbers, which provide the car with cushioning on uneven and bumpy road surfaces. They also ensure that the wheels remain on the road at all times, ensuring better control of the vehicle and surface traction for the driver.

Traction

This refers to the ability of the car’s wheels to grip the road surface and move forward and backwards on a variety of road surface types and conditions.

Carburettor

This is a piece of equipment, which vaporises petrol while blending it with air to the degree required by the car’s engine. The carburettor works by means of a filter attached to it, through which the air goes. The air then mixes with the petrol inside the carburettor, before entering the engine’s combustion chamber to be burned.

Rear wheel drive

This can have two meanings. Firstly it simply can refer to the mechanisms powering the back wheels of the car. However, it is also to a car driven primarily by the wheels at the back rather than the front. Such cars have the engine located at the back of the vehicle, where they are united with a rear-wheel drive transaxle.

Transmission

This is the part of the car, which controls the ability to move the vehicle at different levels of power and different speeds, depending on the situation. There are two different types of transmission, manual and automatic. Manual transmissions are controlled by the driver by means of the gearshift and clutch, while automatic ones are controlled by hydraulics.

At this time of year there are some great affordable cars for sale whether you are looking to buy new or used.

An old favourite is Ford. For less than £10,000 there are two possible models to choose from. These are the Ka and the Fiesta. The Ka is a gret looking car and it is a fun car to drive. Although it is quite inexpensive it is packed full of features. It has a good sound system, power steering, good safety features, ABS and EBD, and automatic stop start technology.

Vauxhall also has two new models available for under £10,000. These are the Agila and the new Corsa three door. The Agila is an ideal city car and looks reasonably stylish. Despite its outwards appearance, there is plenty of space for five adults and there is still adequate luggage space. The Corsa also has bags of style and is very easy to drive. Despite its low price tag it is packed with features and is built to a high standard.

In the under £10,000 bracket Toyota has two models. These are the iQ and the Aygo. The iQ is tiny and comes in at less than 3 meters. It is capable of 93 mph and can return a huge 65.7 mpg. If low running costs are important to you then this 1 litre petrol engine powered car is worth considering. The Aygo is also a small car and its price tag is substantially lower than the iQ and it still comes with plenty of features. It is very economical and delivers an average fuel consumption of 61.4 mpg.

Whilst there are no new Honda models available for under £10,000 if your budget will allow it is worth considering the Honda Jazz which has a list price of a little over £11,000 but with some haggling you should be able to pick one up for close to £10,000. It has good looks, is fully featured and has an economy of 53 mpg.

Performing maintenance checks on the vehicle is an essential part of ensuring that the vehicle you are driving in is indeed in good working order. Yearly checks are recommended for vehicles, regardless of the age to spot problems, such as preventative issues that can be fixed within the vehicle.

What should be checked through the proper maintenance of the vehicle? There are many aspects of the vehicle that are checked through the proper maintenance of the vehicle. The brakes and tires are perhaps two of the most important aspects of the vehicle that should be checked, as well as ensuring that the components within the brakes are in good working order.

A maintenance check is required in some cases to ensure that the warranty remains valid. In some cases, if this maintenance check has been skipped, there may be issues trying to have certain items covered with the warranty. For this reason, one should be sure to have the maintenance completed by the specified locations that are acceptable to reduce problems with the warranty of the vehicle, but also to reduce problems that may arise through the driving of the vehicle. These maintenance checks are often included in the warranty package and are therefore free of charge or in some cases may cost less than one hundred dollars.

Ensuring that the proper maintenance has been completed on the vehicle can ensure that the vehicle is in good working order. A vehicle in good working order can effectively use less fuel, as well as ensure that as much fuel as possible is reserved while driving. As well, this ensures that the vehicle is running through its optimum performance – which is an effective way to ensure that you are getting the most from your vehicle, at all speeds and situations.

When someone decides to purchase a used car they have many choices ahead of them. Without a doubt a vehicle is an investment whether it is a brand new vehicle or a used one. Many people have a variety of features that they’re looking for in their vehicle. In order to help facilitate in locating an ideal vehicle, there are many online websites that can be of assistance. If you are checking out the used cars for sale, perhaps the most widely used site is motors.co.uk. Here you can find numerous used in vehicles for purchase.

Before looking at the local used cars available, it is a good idea to determine the type of vehicle that you need to. Specifically you need to know how big the vehicle needs to be. This size can vary depending upon the purposes and number of passengers who will be travelling in the vehicle. Second only you need to term in which body style would be the most appropriate for your needs. For example, for young couple a coupe would be an ideal model. However if you have children then getting them in and out of the vehicle with a two door car might prove challenging. For you, a four door vehicle would be a better pick.

There many different body styles from which to choose when purchasing a vehicle. You might select a hatchback which is a standard type of small vehicle. Another sort of body style from which to make your selection is in the state style. This type of vehicle is increasing in popularity and is a common choice for those people with an active lifestyle. A third type of body style is known as a saloon. This is typically a more classic car body style and is often used for larger and executive car models.

A coupe is another body style from which you can select that these are not as common as they have been in the past. Another classic car body style is the convertible. The newer models of convertibles have vast improvements over the convertibles of yesteryear. These have folding metal roofs with other updates. The MPV is another choice with today’s models coming in various sizes.

An agreement made between a businesses and a car dealership to hire a car or a fleet of cars to a business is termed Contract Hire. If the agreement is between an individual and a car dealership, like www.frontierleasing.co.uk it is known as Personal Contract Hire. The primary difference between the two is that Personal Contract Hire is subject to VAT and, assuming the business is VAT registered, payments made on a Contract Hire agreement are VAT exempt.

Contract Hire agreements are made for pre-defined time periods which generally range from two to four years and for pre-defined annual mileages. These agreements are not set in stone and there is generally some flexibility; for instance if agreed mileages are exceeded then there is a surcharge to pay, and generally it is possible to terminate a contract early (subject to an early termination fee) or to extend a contract.

As the costs of Contract Hire are related to the difference between the market value of the vehicle when new and its market value at the termination of the contract, it is important that the vehicle is properly maintained and is returned in good condition allowing for reasonable wear and tear. Any violation of this would result in an additional end of contract surcharge.

Contract Hire cars, unlike cars purchased by the business, do not appear on the balance sheet as an asset which can be an important advantage. Cars depreciate rapidly, so having them on the balance sheet can distort how the business might appear to investors and creditors.

There is also an overall cost advantage of hire over purchase. The costs associated with Contract Hire reflect the depreciation of the vehicle rather than its purchase price, and can differ from if you pick a Mazda or a Seat leasing deal. Also these are spread over the period of the contract with payments being made on a monthly basis. This allows accurate budgeting which is always an advantage.

Other savings associated with Contract Hire are in overheads. Staff are released from the chore of managing fleet maintenance and associated activities.
